University of Calgary Campfire Chats: Buffalo Treaty

Starts:  June 21, 2022 3:00 pm

Ends:  June 21, 2022 4:30 pm

Venue:  Online Webinar

In honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, the University of Calgary will present its seventh annual Campfire Chats — an event created to celebrate Indigenous culture. Join us online as we listen to and learn from a panel of Indigenous leaders discussing the Buffalo Treaty.

Buffalo hold much significance and the Buffalo Treaty, signed on Sept. 24, 2014, recognizes, honours and revitalizes the relationship we have with them.

The event will be moderated by Elder Reg Crowshoe, Hon. LLD’01, with special remarks provided by Dr. Michael Hart, PhD, vice-provost of Indigenous Engagement.

Rod Hunter and his drum group, Eya-Hey Nakoda, will also perform the UCalgary Honour Song.

The event will feature a panel of Traditional Knowledge Keepers:

  • Leroy Little Bear
  • Dr. Tasha Hubbard, PhD’16
  • Marie-Eve Marchand

Campfire Chats is brought to you by the Office of Indigenous Engagement, in partnership with the Office of Advancement.
